The Perseverance Card from The Soul’s Journey Lesson Cards by James Van Praagh

I know that I can do whatever I set my mind to

As a soul, you are on a mission in this physical dimension. You are the only one who knows the correct path to take. Your intuition—your connection to Spirit—is your compass. You have the power to stay the course, and you are stronger and more determined than you might first think. In order to experience many successes in life, you must mature and realize the strength within yourself and the quality of inner courage.

Life doesn’t just happen—we must make it happen. It is natural for us in this human school to shy away from what we believe to be difficult, because we concern ourselves with how others will perceive us. We are afraid of failure, ridicule, or coming up short.

Now is the time to make the proper changes and take risks and do things you never thought you could before. Your soul must learn to become aware of its “inner strength.” Live the joyfulness your soul yearns for and engage in activities you have always wanted to try but were afraid you’d fail at. Your soul would not yearn for something that you couldn’t accomplish. You have the strength and fortitude to be capable of greatness.

The energies and themes of the past couple of months are building on each other. As Venus and Mercury mature together, so do we. In December we found the will, in January we were asked to answer the call, and now in February, we are challenged to persevere, to harness our gumption and grit, and to have the courage and strength to push through. Today’s Leo full moon is filled with this spirit as well. The Aquarian sun presides, and sacred creativity, individuation, and boldness are in the spotlight. However, with Venus and Mercury still riding together for most of the month, it’s imperative that our intuitive minds and knowing hearts remain in authentic alignment with the will and the call.

Perseverance supports the permanent ingresses of Neptune and Saturn in Aries, as their exact conjunction arrives. The eclipses begin changing signs this month, from the Pisces/Virgo axis to the Aquarius/Leo axis, and Mercury’s first retrograde of the year is incoming. Last year’s shifting between fire and water finally takes the plunge as the first retrograde wave will be fully in Pisces. Although February’s line up features fewer key dates than usual, the cosmic moves this month pack an energetic punch!

Here are important dates for the month:

February 1st - The Leo full moon roars to fullness just before it rises here on the east coast (5:09 p.m. ET), reminding us of our inner strength, courage, fortitude, and the importance of heart-centered creativity. This full moon opens up the first eclipse season of the year.
February 3rd - Uranus’s retrograde ends, inscribing the beginning of the final chapter of its Taurean journey. Balance on stable ground, as all things Taurus may receive a jolt of instability for a few days (food, markets, money, land, etc.).
February 6th - Mercury shifts into Pisces, where it’ll remain until mid-April! The love language of Mercury in Pisces is art, poetry, dreams, mind melds, and the known, yet unspoken. Take advantage of this elongated transit.
February 10th - Following Mercury’s lead, Venus shifts into Pisces on the way to becoming visible again in the evening sky. The connection to everything we love and value matures, and compassion and sensitivity are celebrated.
February 11th - The Mercury retrograde pre-shadow period begins, as Mercury cozies up with the North node of the moon (exact on the 12th). The Soul’s journey and growth are led by the transcendental.
February 13th - Saturn commits, as Saturn does, and secures itself in Aries. The Soul’s journey and lessons become inspired by the will to BE.
February 17th - Aquarius new moon/total solar eclipse (7:01 a.m. ET). The blending of the Aquarian and the Piscean begins and sparks will fly as this supercharged new moon squares Uranus almost exactly, while Venus shares soul space with the North node of the moon. Your heart and soul are your truest guides.
February 18th - Pisces season begins with the sun’s submergence in the sign of the fishes.
February 20th - The ever-so-hyped-up, exact conjunction of Neptune and Saturn occurs at 0° Aries, the starting point of everything, the alpha and the omega…what was developing in your life between May and September last year? There’s a hint to what may be reinitiated and becoming more permanent now.
February 26th - Mercury dons the underwater gear, and the Piscean retrograde begins.
February 27th-28th - Retrograding Mercury and Venus catch another wave together, soul surfing and communicating in underwater tongues, while Mars in Aquarius squares off with Uranus in Taurus; explosive temperaments are subdued by remembering that we are all one, all connected.

Jupiter and Saturn are the primary guiding lights. Remember too that Uranus is the modern ruler of Aquarius, and definitely has a supporting role all month long with the squaring off to all three personal planets transiting the late degrees of Aquarius, and the influence over the new moon/total solar eclipse. Sacred rebellion and individuation are the mycelium of February’s cosmic landscape. Pay close attention to synchronicities!

As always, this month’s cosmic energies will be incorporated into my weekly horoscopes and astrology summaries, so be sure to stay tuned to the Cosmic Connection for guidance and more detailed information throughout the month.

This week’s edition was focused on the incoming Leo full moon:
